Having a baby has transformed our ideas of family. We didn’t think it was possible to love so much—or be so frustrated. It is the hardest thing we have ever had to do as a couple and yet it has strengthened our commitment to each other. Family is captured in those ordinary moments where we laugh at our son grasping the string of a balloon while he is snoring soundly, or catch a glimpse in the rear view mirror of his darling face wearing a new hat his aunt knitted for him, or when he is scared by a Halloween mask and cries for his mommies. And then there are those moments when our son learns how to do something new and we see the excitement in his face realizing that we as a couple are teaching him every moment. With every day that passes we know we are no different than any other family. We share all the same emotions that come with parenthood and as parents we wouldn’t want it any other way.
