About the Artist: Judy Natal lives in Chicago, IL, and participated in Light Work’s Artist-in-Residence program in August 2002. She has an extensive resume of solo and group exhibitions, as well as published works and lectures. Her work is included in several private collections such as the Polaroid Collection, MA and the Museum of Art, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Product Description: For many years, photographer Judy Natal has been photographing archaeological ruins, and creating “parallel relationships between archaeology and photography.” With the inspiration of the writings of Earthworks sculptor Robert Smithson, Natal says she “began to envision texts in the earth much like the archaeological fragments that I had been photographing.” She received an artist residency at Joshua Tree, CA to investigate the language of the landscape. The images she took while on this extended residency comprise her EarthWords exhibition.
